Scissors and glue will take you anywhere you want to go!
Week FOUR … Our book and art lesson this week is one of my all time favorites!
I owe Henri Matisse a huge apology!!! I had the book Henri’s Scissors, by Jeanette Winter, for several years before reading it to my little preschool artists. It sat on my bookshelf, and although I was intrigued, it took years to make its way to the reading chair and to became an art project.
BIG mistake! I mis-judged the impact that scissors and glue would have on the students. I thought that they would grow tired of cutting and that they wouldn’t be inspired by the art project that mimicked the book. Man was I wrong! Kids + scissors + glue = joy & very thick artwork!
This week’s book tells the story of Henri Matisse so perfectly for little ones to understand and enjoy! All of us would benefit from taking a short break and going back to the basics … scissors, paper and glue! So let’s do that!
